Babylon, New York is located within Suffolk County and is part of the Town of Babylon. The Town of Babylon is governed by a Town Board consisting of a Supervisor, Deputy Supervisor, four Council Members and a Receiver of Taxes. Each member is elected to serve a two-year term. The Town Board meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month to discuss issues affecting the town such as zoning changes, budgeting, infrastructure upgrades and public safety concerns.
In addition to the Town Board, Babylon also has its own Village government which consists of an elected Mayor and four Trustees who are responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the village. The Mayor is elected every two years while the Trustees are elected for four year terms.
